Phi Theta Kappa Cleanup Feature
A student-focused video spotlighting Phi Theta Kappa members and their advisor during a campuswide service project. This piece celebrated student leadership and community involvement, and contributed to my recognition as PTK’s Most Distinguished Faculty for 2023–2024.
role & scope
Creative Director · Interviewer · Cinematographer · Editor · Colorist · Motion Graphics
challenge
Document and celebrate the impact of a large-scale cleanup event led by Phi Theta Kappa students. More than just an event recap, the video needed to showcase student leadership, foster community pride and elevate visibility for our PTK chapter.
action
Shot on location during the event to capture real-time participation and atmosphere
Conducted interviews with students and the advisor to bring in authentic voice and heart
Blended documentary-style footage with narrative pacing for an engaging, emotional arc
Used warm visuals and thoughtful composition to highlight effort, camaraderie, and student pride
result
This video became my most well-received community features, widely shared and referenced internally. It helped reinforce the power of showing small, meaningful moments with care. It also contributed to my being named PTK’s Most Distinguished Faculty in the California-Nevada region for 2023–2024, a deeply personal and professional honor.
Student Success Story
A testimonial-driven video spotlighting real students and the faculty who helped them thrive. Focused on authentic storytelling and message clarity, this piece was created to support enrollment goals and build trust through relatable, human-centered narratives.
role & scope
Creative Lead, Interviewer, Cinematographer, Editor, Colorist, Motion Graphics
challenge
Commissioned for presentation at the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents meeting, this video needed to demonstrate how Great Basin College supports student success. My creative aim went further: to humanize that experience, to center a student’s voice and the mentorship that shaped their journey. This was part of a larger campaign reinforcing that education at GBC is personal and within reach.
action
Shot, edited, and delivered in under a week
Conducted 16 in-depth interviews (30+ mins each) to find the most compelling arc
Used pre-interviews to shape a candid and emotionally honest narrative
Filmed on campus using natural light and intimate framing for grounded realism
Prioritized connection over polish, with gentle pacing, sincere tone and minimal interference
result
By letting the student speak in their own words without script, spin, or filter, I created one of the most resonant videos in our recruitment portfolio. It’s a piece that continues to stand out for its emotional clarity and remains a powerful example of trust-based storytelling.
Women’s History Month
Presidential Message
A cinematic social video created to honor Women’s History Month, featuring a personal message from the president of Great Basin College. The goal was to elevate a standard institutional address into a visually resonant, emotionally grounded tribute using tone, pacing and composition to highlight the month’s significance.
role & scope
Creative Lead, Interviewer, Cinematographer, Editor, Colorist, Motion Graphics
problem
Institutional videos often risk feeling cold or impersonal. My goal was to create something quieter, more intentional, a piece that honored the spirit of Women’s History Month while reflecting the strength, contributions, and leadership of women across campus and beyond. This was part of a broader monthly video series that included topics like Community College Month and others.
action
Directed and shot in a naturally lit, quiet setting to match the message’s reflective tone
Used restrained editing and gentle punch-ins to preserve presence and gravity
Applied soft grading and shallow depth of field for warmth and intimacy
Designed a minimal motion graphics package to frame, rather than distract from the message
Delivered optimized versions for social with clear emotional throughlines
result
This video proved that when the message matters, less truly is more. Through stillness, sincerity, and aesthetic restraint, it resonated with students, faculty, and the broader Nevada community alike.
Golf for Good – Tournament Promo Video
A high-energy promotional video created for Great Basin College’s Foundation to generate excitement and awareness around its largest annual fundraising event. This piece blended candid moments, campaign branding, and motion graphics to celebrate the spirit of community support for education.
role & scope
Creative Lead, Interviewer, Cinematographer, Editor, Colorist, Motion Graphics
problem
The Foundation’s annual golf tournament is a major fundraising effort, but past promotional efforts lacked energy and didn’t reflect the fun, connection, and purpose of the event. I was tasked with creating a piece that energized local partners, honored the cause, and helped drive participation, all while staying on brand.
action
Shot on-site during the full tournament day, capturing authentic, in-the-moment interactions
Conducted short-form interviews with leadership and attendees for voiceover-style soundbites
Designed animated text and graphics to match the “Golf for Good” campaign branding
Cut together a fast-paced, upbeat edit optimized for social engagement
Delivered horizontal and vertical formats to ensure full platform coverage
result
This piece brought energy and clarity to a traditionally dry content type, making fundraising feel human, joyful, and community-driven. It helped boost visibility, increased post-event engagement, proving that even donor messaging can be dynamic and fun when handled with intention.
